Lummi boys overcome turnovers, poor free-throw shooting in win

Lummi's boys' basketball team overcame 24 turnovers and 14 missed free throws to defeat Cedar Park Christian of Mountlake Terrace 74-64 on Thursday, Dec. 19, at Lummi High School. The Blackhawks were led by Austin Brockie's 19 points and team-high four 3-pointers.

"Fundamentals are an area we are going to address," Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. "The boys played through it and were able to get the baskets in transition off of steals. In the half-court offense we were just turning the ball over."

Dean Williams added 12 points, and Trazil Lane and Charlie Wilson each had 10 for Lummi. The Blackhawks also grabbed 11 steals.

"We had four players in double figures and the team played unselfishly," Toby added of his team's 16 assists.
