Red Raiders score win over Storm

Bellingham's boys' wrestling team defeated Squalicum 54-21 on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Squalicum High School.

The Red Raiders benefited from four forfeits, but also won five of the nine matches that were wrestled.

"Any loss is a tough loss," Squalicum coach Russell Robinson said in a phone interview. "We forfeited a lot of weights, but head-to-head we were pretty even."

The Storm's Luke Jordan had a great night, Robinson said. Jordan defeated Riley Takamura by a 6-0 decision.

Robinson was also impressed with freshman Zach Johnson, who won his match 6-3 over Ben Donelly.

"Zach is working hard," Robinson said. "He's paying attention and working on his technique. After a tough tournament in Blaine, he focused in and made the decision to be a better wrestler."

Squalicum hosts the Graham Morris Invite on Saturday, Dec. 21.
