Big defensive night pushes Lummi boys to win

Lummi boys' basketball locked down on defense and defeated Lopez 68-27 Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Lummi. The Blackhawks were led by Trazil Lane's 15 points and nine rebounds.

"We really wanted to have a good defensive game and our defense and rebounding were keys for us," Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. "Getting stops and steals helps us run our transition offense."

The Blackhawks grabbed 12 steals in the game. Austin Brockie added 18 points, including five 3-pointers, and Dean Williams had five points and six assists.

"Dean did a good job pushing the ball and was a good floor general tonight," Toby added of his team leader in assists.
