Mariners can't overcome 26 turnovers in loss

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 17, 2013

Sehome's girls' basketball team couldn't dig out of the 18-3 hole it was in after the first quarter, as the Mariners fell to Marysville-Pilchuk 47-19.

The Mariners' 26 turnovers were cause for concern and they weren't able to overcome it.

"We just weren't making good passes to our teammates," coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. "They have to be crisper. We just have to work on the little things. If we get better and better reach game, we're going to find a way."

The bright spot for Sehome was the play of Chanelle Eddy and Maddy Bryan. Eddy had four points and Bryan had one point but also recorded six rebounds.

"Maddy's intensity was really great," Kirk said. "She forced a lot of turnovers. Chanelle was very physical underneath."

The Mariners return home to play Sedro-Woolley on Friday, Dec. 20.
