Coston captures Hawaii Senior Open title

Local golfer Jeff Coston won the Hawaii State Senior Open held from Dec. 13 to Dec. 15, finishing 8-under par to win his third state open this year.

Coston shot scores of 67, 69 and 72 en route to the win. He defeated his friend, Scott Simpson, who won the US Open in 1987, by one shot in the event.

Coston also won the Washington and Oregon senior opens this year. He also celebrated his 37th wedding anniversary with his wife last week.

"My marriage with my wife is my greatest accomplishment," Coston said in a phone interview.

This was Coston's last event of the year, as he doesn't compete again until February, he said.
