Lynden boys' basketball tops Baker

Lynden boys' basketball defeated Mount Baker 54-21 on Monday, Dec. 16, at Mount Baker High School behind Jaremy Martin's 11 points and six assists. Mount Baker was led by Reuben Murashov and Conner Brandland, who had six points each.

"We were able to get out and run early," Lynden coach Brian Roper said in a phone interview. "Martin spread the ball out in transition. It was fun to watch him play with a lot of energy and share the ball. He got a lot of guys easy shots by creating opportunities for them."

Lynden out-rebounded Baker 43-28 thanks to 11 boards from Parker Harrison. The Mountaineers' top rebounder was Isaac Gilmore, who had eight rebounds to go with his five points and three assists.

Lynden plays again tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. against Tamanawis, the preseason No. 1 B.C. school.

"We'll be playing for school and country," Roper added.
