Lummi wins second game of back-to-back

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 14, 2013

Lummi boys' basketball team won its second game in two days, as the Blackhawks defeated Mount Vernon Christian 47-18 on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The Blackhawks used some strong defense and hustle to overcome the fatigue that comes with back-to-back games.

"We came out and played well at first," coach Logan Toby said in a phone interview. "It was really good in stretches. I'm proud of the hustle we played with."

Dean Williams and Trazil Lane each had 10 points and Lane added eight rebounds.

"Trazil Lane had a solid game," Toby said. "He brought a lot of energy off the bench."

The Blackhawks had eight different players score - a sign of a good win.

"We played unselfishly," Toby said. "There are areas we need to improve on like taking care of the ball and rebounding, but it was a good Blackhawks team win."

Lummi (2-0) next plays at home on Tuesday, Dec. 17, against Lopez.
