WWU golf gets Fryer to commit

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 14, 2013

Joe Fryer, who is currently enrolled at the Lee Westwood Golf School in England, has signed at National Letter of Intent to play men's golf at Western Washington University, beginning the fall of 2014.

Making that announcement was WWU interim coach Luke Bennett.

"Joe is the ideal fit for the program," said Bennett. "He's extremely passionate and dedicated to his game, a super young man and comes from a great and supportive family. His work ethic will surely inspire others. The entire team is excited to have him as a teammate."

Fryer is currently leading the British Schools and Golf Tour Order of Merit with a scoring average of 70.7. Prior to his stay in England, Fryer played two seasons at Kamiak High School. He helped the Knights to the 2012 Class 4A state championship, placing 10th individually. He tied for eighth at state in 2011. Fryer helped Kamiak to two Western Conference titles, taking medalist honors in 2011.
