Coach: Monte Walton (third season)
Last year: Finished eighth in the Northwest Conference with a 5-7 record. Ended season after going 0-2 in the 3A Northwest District Tournament and finished 8-14 overall.
Players to watch: Austin Honeycutt (so., P); Dante Kelly (jr., W); John Weg (So., P); Brady Shearer (jr., W); Daniel Riley (sr., G)
Outlook: Ferndale lost eight seniors to graduation last year and now own one of the youngest teams in the Northwest Conference, but the Golden Eagles return sophomore leading scoring and post Austin Honeycutt (11.3 points per game), who coach Monte Walton said he believes is one of the top players in the NWC. "He has improved a whole lot in the offseason," Walton said in a phone interview. "He is playing post for us this year but might eventually be on the outside." Sophomore John Weg (4.8) will join Honeycutt on the blocks and gives the Ferndale good height with his 6-foot-7 frame. Guard Daniel Riley (0.7) is the lone senior, and Brady Shearer (7.6) and Dante Kelly are expected to join him along the perimeter.
