Lynden pulls away from Sehome in second half

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 13, 2013

Sehome's girls' basketball team hung with Lynden for the first half of its game Friday, Dec. 13, at Sehome, but Lynden was able to put the game away in the second half. Elisa Kooiman led the Lions with 18 points in the victory.

Megan Bayless led the Mariners with nine points and Madison Ulrich added eight more.

"We came out with awesome energy in the first half and were only down eight at halftime," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. "Then in the third we hit a lull and they started shooting really well."

Ulrich, a freshman, was a big part of why Sehome stayed on pace with Lynden early in the game.

"She stepped up and hit a couple of 3-pointers early in the game that were huge," Kirk said.

Sehome plays next at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Marysville-Pilchuck. Lynden's next game is at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Lake Stevens.
