Munzanreder's big game key to Ferndale's win

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 13, 2013

Kier Munzanreder broke out for 30 points to lead Ferndale's boys' basketball team over Blaine 92-54 on Friday, Dec. 13, at Ferndale High School. Ben Hodgin led the Borderites with 17 points.

"Kier had seven 3-pointers off the bench in the second half," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "We really shared the ball and got it to the hot hand."

Malik Ivory was the poster boy for the Golden Eagles' ball-sharing as he dished out a team-high seven assists while being held scoreless. Austin Honeycutt also added 18 points for Ferndale.

Walton said the key to the big win was holding Blaine's Josiah Westbrook to just six points.

"We had a couple different guys guard him and made him work for his points," Walton added.

Ferndale plays next at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at Mount Baker. Blaine's next game is at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, at home against Meridian.
