BELLINGHAM - The public is invited to visit the new Perry Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture Sciences during an open house Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Maritime Heritage Park.

The event is 3 to 6 p.m. at 1600 C St.

The new $4.5-million building replaced Bellingham Technical College's previous, worn-out fisheries building.

The open house will include student-led tours of the hatchery, labs and classrooms. People also can learn about the life cycle of salmon and about shellfish species during the event.
