Squalicum boys' wrestling splits meet with Sedro-Woolley, Nooksack Valley

Squalicum boys' wrestling split its dual meet against Sedro-Woolley and Nooksack Valley on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Nooksack Valley High School. The Storm defeated the Pioneers 43-33, but lost to Sedro-Woolley 71-9.

The Cubs also defeated Nooksack Valley 58-24. Luke Jordan led Squalicum with two wins at the meet.

"Jordan had two tough opponents today," Squalicum coach Russell Robinson said in a phone interview. "Both matches went into overtime, and (the match against Adam Atkinson) went into triple overtime. He battled each time, kept his head and wrestled really well."

Robinson added that Jordan is very driven to place at state this year after winning a match in the opening round of the state tournament last year.

Squalicum's next meet is at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Blaine High School for the Battle at the Border.
