Lynden boys' swimming falls in close meet

Lynden boys' swimming narrowly lost its first meet of the year 84-83 against Archbishop Murphy at the Lynden YMCA. Daniel Traina and Robbie Kmapp led the Lions, each winning an individual race at the meet.

Traina won the 50 freestyle in 27.2 seconds. Kmapp won the 200 freestyle with a time of two minutes, 6.2 seconds.

"Kmapp also got second in the 100 fly," Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview.

Gibb also said that Michael Johnson was the biggest surprise in the meet.

"Johnson got second in the backstroke and third in the 500, both with great times," Gibb added.

Lynden's next meet is at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center against Sehome.
