Austin Jenckes returning to WWU for a concert

BELLINGHAM - Fresh off his run on TV's "The Voice," Western Washington University alumnus Austin Jenckes is returning to campus to perform.

The singer will headline a show Friday, Jan. 10, at the Performing Arts Center Mainstage. Local artists Polecat and Cody Beebe also perform in the all-ages concert that starts at 7 p.m.

Jenckes' major at WWU was in communications and he minored in audio recording at Fairhaven College. About two years ago he moved to Nashville, Tenn., in pursuit of his musical dream.

He survived several eliminations on this season's "The Voice," making the top 10, and gained a large fan following. He played his late father's guitar, always wore a hat and flashed a big smile.

Tickets are $10 for the general public or $7 for those with a WWU student card. For tickets, go online to or call 360-650-6146.
