Bellingham boys' basketball tops Meridian

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 9, 2013

Bellingham boys' basketball made 18 free throws on its way to a 62-53 win over Meridian on Monday, Dec. 9, at Meridian High School. The Red Raiders were led by Kyle Hofstetter's 11 points.

Meridian coach Shane Stacy said the Red Raiders drove a lot to the basket late in the game and were able to get to the free throw line.

"They were able to wear us down in the second half," Stacy said in a phone interview. "It was a matter of them being more physical than we were today."

Alex Martin and Kyle Young led the Trojans with 14 points each. Bellingham had the edge in rebounds, 27-25. Kailen Hayes led the Red Raiders with 10 boards.

Meridian's next game is at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at Blaine. Bellingham plays next at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Nooksack Valley.
