Blaine defense steps up in big win

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 8, 2013

Blaine's girls' basketball team defeated Concrete 62-3 on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Borderites defense didn't allow a field goal in the victory despite halting the full-court press due to the score. Concrete scored all three points from the line.

"There wasn't any quit in the girls," coach Ryan Pike said in a phone interview. "They played hard from start to finish. They were lights out on the defensive end."

Mandy Hayes led the Borderites with 15 points and Taylor V'Dovec added 12.

"I think we're a pretty confident bunch," Pike said. "We just are trying to go out and get better every game."

Blaine next plays Mount Baker on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Mount Baker High School.
