Westbrook's 27 first-half points leads Borderites to win

Blaine's boys' basketball team cruised to an 84-50 victory over Coupeville on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Blaine High School.

The Borderites jumped out to a 50-22 halftime lead behind Josiah Westbrook's 27 first-half points. Westbrook finished the game with 29 points.

"I think we were shaking off some first-game jitters from yesterday," coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. "(Westbrook) did a great job of getting by his guy and getting in the lane."

Westbrook also had seven assists and four 3-pointers.

Shaq Woods also contributed 23 points and 10 rebounds.

"Shaq has a great basketball mind," Pile said. "He gets in good position and is able to finish with his shots."

The Borderites get almost a week off before they take on Ferndale on Friday, Dec. 13, at Ferndale High School.
