Coach: Mike Ivy

Last year: Ferndale finished undefeated in conference play, going a perfect 12-0 en route to a NWC title. The team posted a 19-3 record overall. ... Went 1-2 at the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament, seeing its season come to an end with a 54-52 loss to Shorewood. ... Led the NWC in total offense, averaging 55.9 points per game last season.

Players to watch: Linsey Honeycutt (Jr., post); Hannah Carlson (Sr., guard); Abby Reid (Jr., point guard)

Outlook: The Golden Eagles are in for some slight changes following their 19-3 season, losing three senior starters from last year's team. With their losses, though, come the opportunities for others to step up, coach Mike Ivy is excited to see some girls who haven't had a ton of opportunities in years past gain a larger role on the team. "They're pretty stoked," said Ivy, referring to seniors Brooke Benson, Hannah Carlson and Taryn Knutson. Ferndale also lost its starting point guard from a year ago, and junior Abby Reid is being tasked with taking command of a potent offense that scored 55.9 points per game last season. "She had a phenomenal offseason," Ivy said. "She shoots with so much accuracy, and she's not afraid to shoot." The offensive tempo is going to remain the same from a year ago: Fast. Ivy, who is particularly excited to see his junior all-conference post Linsey Honeycutt run the floor, believes this team has the potential to be even more prolific offensively than a year ago.
