Storm scores narrow win over Ferndale



The Squalicum boy's basketball team squeaked out a win over Ferndale 43-40 on Friday, Dec. 6, at Ferndale High School. The Storm was led by Blake Youtsey's 18 points.

"I think Youtsey was the key for Squalicum," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "He's a very solid fundamental player and a good shooter."

Ferndale was led by Brady Shearer, who had 11 points. Daniel Riley and Austin Honeycutt each had 10 for the Golden Eagles.

"We improved over our game-one performance," Walton said. "Our defense played well tonight, they were the bright spot for us."

Ferndale's next game is at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at home against Lynden Christian. Squalicum plays next at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Sehome.
