MOUNT BAKER 65, OAK HARBOR 61

Mount Baker's girls' basketball team went on the road and picked up a 65-61 win over Oak Harbor on Friday, Dec. 6.

Down three heading into the fourth quarter, Baker's defense stepped up and held Oak Harbor to four points and scored the victory.

"The girls kept the pressure on and we got in a little rythym," coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview.

Emily Yost led the Mountaineers with 26 points, 14 of which were in the third quarter.

"We kept pushing and finally found Emily inside," Ellis said.

Oak Harbor jumped out to a 15-12 lead after the first quarter, but Mount Baker refused to let up.

"It was a good win for us," Ellis said. "We stuck with it and didn't get rattled. It was great to go out and get a win on their home court."

The Mountaineers are now 2-0 and next face Blaine on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Mount Baker High School.
