Pioneers led by Perry, Maxwell in 51-19 win over Mariners

Nooksack Valley's girls' basketball team got the better of Sehome 51-19 on Friday, Dec. 6, at Nooksack Valley High School.

The Pioneers got strong play from Mariah Perry (16 points, five assists) and Cheyanna Maxwell (11 points, six rebounds) in the victory.

"They were really attacking tonight," Nooksack coach Shane Wichers said in a phone interview.

Nooksack didn't allow double digits in any quarter and forced 22 Sehome turnovers.

"I thought we played well defensively," Wichers said. "I was pleased with the effort at protecting the basket and not giving away easy points."

Sehome did win the battle on the boards, outrebounding Nooksack 34-27. The Mariners were led offensively by Chanelle Eddy with five points.

Nooksack stays at home to take on La Conner Tuesday, Dec. 10. Sehome next plays Squalicum on Monday, Dec. 9, at Squalicum High School.
