Bellingham girls' basketball falls in close game against Anacortes

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 5, 2013

Bellingham girls' basketball lost 38-37 against Anacortes on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Bellingham High School. MacKenzie Wight led the Seahawks with 15 points and Michaela Knutson had 12 for Bellingham.

Bellingham may have been done in by a scoreless third quarter, but they came back in the fourth quarter and kept the game close to the very end.

"The girls played with more urgency in the fourth," Bellingham coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview. "We didn't do much differently, we just played with more energy. Anacortes slowed down on the offensive end and that made us too quick in our offensive possessions."

Knutson made two of the three Bellingham 3-pointers, and Wissing said she brought energy to the Red Raiders off the bench.

Bellingham's next game is at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at home against Meridian.
