BELLINGHAM 51, SEHOME 37

The Bellingham girls' basketball team defeated Sehome 51-37 on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Sehome High School.

The Red Raiders pressed consistently through the first half and forced Sehome to commit some early turnovers to pull out with the lead that would stay in their favor all night.

"We have to take care of the basketball," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. "That comes through experience and practice."

The Red Raiders were led by Michaela Knutson with a game-high 14 points. Sehome's Mackenzie Caldwell scored nine points to lead the Mariners.

The Mariners made it competitive in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bellingham 11-3 but they fell short.

"The kids played hard," Kirk said. We are young team and we came out and didn't give up. Inch by inch, we'll get better. Bellingham had a great game tonight too."

Bellingham plays Anacortes on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Bellingham High School. Sehome goes on the road and faces Lynden Christian on Thursday.
