Erickson, Hutchinson named Daktronics West Region all-stars


Western Washington University middle blocker Kayla Erickson, a repeater, and libero Samantha Hutchinson were first-team selections on the NCAA Division II Daktronics West Region All-Star squad announced Tuesday.

Picked to the second team was Viking setter Taylor Dillard.

Erickson was a repeater on the first team and Hutchinson was a second-team choice in 2012.

Erickson, who was the 2013 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year, ranks fifth nationally in attack percentage at .385 and currently tops school career leaders in hitting at .363. She is 21st nationally in blocks per set (1.22) and 23rd in points per set (4.44).

Hutchinson, who received GNAC Defensive Player of the Year recognition for the second straight season, is second nationally in digs per set at 6.90. She ranks third among WWU career leaders in digs with 1,650.

Dillard ranks eighth nationally in assists per set at11.80.
