Lummi Island ferry to allow credit card purchases Friday, Dec. 6

LUMMI ISLAND - The Whatcom Chief ferry to Lummi Island will accept credit cards Friday, Dec. 6, as a pilot test before the ferry starts accepting the cards by January 2014, according to the Whatcom County Public Works Department. The test will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

All major credit cards will be accepted except for American Express. Debit cards with a major credit card logo also will be accepted and will be processed as credit with no PIN needed. Credit cards will be accepted only for single ride fares.
