'Landmarks' is theme of Port of Bellingham gingerbread contest

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDNovember 23, 2013

BELLINGHAM - "Landmarks" is the theme of this year's gingerbread house contest for the Holiday Port Festival.

Entries don't have to be houses or made of gingerbread, but they must be visibly edible. The 18th annual contest is open to everyone; judging is done in nine categories based on age or group. It's free to enter.

Entry forms, available at portofbellingham.com/gingerbreadcontest or by calling the 360-676-2500, are due by Dec. 2. Entries must be dropped off Dec. 4 at Bellingham Cruise Terminal.

Entries will be on display Dec. 6-8 during the Holiday Port Festival, which also features music, dancing, horse-drawn wagon rides, kids' activities and a visit by Santa Claus.

Creators can donate their entries to a silent auction, with proceeds benefitting the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross.
