Journey full steam ahead into holidays with Santa train

The Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad will run its steam trains as the Santa Express each weekend from Nov. 30 through Dec. 22.

Departing from the Elbe Depot, passengers will travel along streams and forests amid the foothills of Mount Rainier while visiting with Santa Claus. Sometimes there is snow on the ground this time of year. Passengers of all ages can visit with Santa and receive a gift. There also will be holiday music, hot cocoa, cider and cookies. The passenger cars are decorated with trees, lights and garlands.

The trains will run at 10 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, Dec. 6-8, 13- 15 and 20-22. Each trip lasts about 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on weather and track conditions.

Tickets are $27 for adults, $24 for seniors and military, $22 for children ages 2-12 and free for children younger than 2.
