Four county runners to participate in 15th Annual BorderClash

Four Whatcom Country high school cross country runners are scheduled to represent the state of Washington in the 15th Annual Nike BorderClash on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.

After top-10 finishes at the Class 2A State Championships earlier this month, Squalicum's Chris Fredlund and Sehome's Emily Pittis, Ellie Rowan-Arnett and Ruby Watson are all expected to compete when 80 top runners from Washington take on 80 top runners from Oregon in a dual meet format.

For the first time this year, the BorderClash will be an evening race, as the boys' race is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start, with the girls' to follow at 6:30 p.m.

Washington has won the title the past 12 years.
