B y the numbers The number of ducks taken by hunters in Washington during the 2012 season. That was up 15 percent compared with the 2011 season and up 19 percent compared with the average harvest from 2007-2011. According to statistics from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, the five counties with the largest average harvest from 2008-12 are Grant (67,200 ducks), Skagit (49,893), Yakima (31,462), Benton (27,295) and Snohomish (25,322). The average harvest in Pierce County the last five seasons was 10,418 ducks, and in Thurston County the average was 8,283 ducks.
