Bellingham car dealership hosting salmon giveaway

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDNovember 15, 2013

BELLINGHAM - A local car dealership and Native American Fisheries are giving away 5,000 pounds of salmon to the community.

Dewey Griffin Buick-GMC-Subaru will have the salmon at its dealership at 1800 Iowa St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until they run out) on Tuesday, Nov. 19. People are advised to bring a container and some ice to take the fish home.

Most of the fish are pre-cleaned. They plan to give limited quantities to each person who drops by the dealership.

The fish are available because Native American Fisheries, on Lummi Shore Road, has a surplus of fish and the decision was made to give it to the community, said Tanya McKinney, who works in the customer relations department at Dewey Griffin.

"We just wanted to do something nice for the community," she said.
