Farewell event for Scott Walker set for Dec. 5

The Port of Bellingham has scheduled a public reception to honor Port Commissioner Scott Walker, who is retiring after 22 years.

The reception will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Squalicum Boathouse, 2600 Harbor Loop, at Zuanich Park. Light refreshments will be served.

Walker has served on the Port Commission since 1991. He decided not to run for re-election this year, and his term will end on Dec. 31. 2013.

Dan Robbins was elected to replace him.
