Mount Baker moves to No. 4 in 1A poll

Mount Baker moved up another spot to No. 4 in the latest Class 1A rankings when the Associated Press Washington State High School Football Poll was released Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The Mountaineers (8-1, 5-0 NWC) were idle last week after earning an automatic 1A State Playoff berth. They face Woodland in the first round at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Civic Stadium.

Zillah, which topped the 1A poll for a number of weeks, dropped to No. 7 after ending its season with a shocking 17-7 upset loss to Royal during a district game last week. Cascade Christian took over No. 1, earning seven of nine first-place votes.

Lynden (10-0, 7-0 NWC) remained ranked No. 2 in Class 2A. The Lions earned a 35-7 win against Sultan in the district playoffs last week. Tumwater stayed at No. 1, earning eight of 10 first-place votes. Lynden received the other two. The Lions face Kingston at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Civic Stadium during the first round of the 2A State Playoffs.

Sedro-Woolley (8-2, 6-1 NWC) entered the 2A rankings at No. 10 after beating Lake Washington 48-13 in districts.

Lummi (8-2, 4-1 NWFL 1B) moved up one spot from No. 5 to No. 4 in the Class 1B rankings. The Blackhawks beat Evergreen Lutheran 44-12 in the 1B Bi-District Playoffs and host Taholah at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in a winner-to-state matchup.

Class 4A Camas and Class 3A Bellevue were unanimously ranked No. 1 in respective polls. Morton/White Pass was ranked No. 1 in 2B, and Neah Bay topped the 1B rankings.
