I entered the military after graduating from Bellingham High School in 1959.

A communication specialist in the U.S. Air Force, I served two tours of duty at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane and a tour at Morón Air Base in Spain, leaving as an airman first class.

I served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1964, following several family members who also served; my father, John Vodopich, in the Army, and brothers Jon and Garey, both in the Air Force.
