Myhre accounts for six TDs in Nooksack's 50-13 win

EVERSON - Nooksack Valley football poured on the scoring like the heavy rain falling against the Bellevue Christian Vikings for a 50-13 victory Friday, November 8, at Nooksack Valley High School. The Pioneers jumped ahead early and never let the Vikings back into the game.

"I think that we have gotten better each week," Pioneers coach Robb Myhre said. "We found some things that we do well (such as) our screen game. We really started to play well last week against Blaine, and we really started to play well and did well tonight. It took more fight as the season went on."

Leading the way for the Pioneers was junior quarterback Tanner Myhre. He amassed 277 yards passing and also threw for six touchdowns. The first of the six touchdowns came from a perfectly placed ball to where only junior wide receiver Brady Wood could get it. The Pioneers stepped defensively as well.

"Our kids began to get more and more physical, and started to believe in themselves a little bit after last week as well," Robb Myhre said. "It was a young group this year with two varsity returners and one of those kids got injured midway through the season so we had only one returner really out on the field so it took them a while to get their confidence."

Much of the Pioneers' scoring took place in the second quarter as Tanner Myhre lit up the Vikings for four of his six touchdowns. One of which was an innocent screen pass to sophomore wide receiver that stretched out to a 93-yard gain to seel away the Vikings early.

"I thought that Connor (Beard) ran screen very well," said junior tight end Joshua Gimmaka. "His speed and his agility is what really helped the offense, and Tanner (Myhre) threw some really nice balls tonight. He is the special guy that knows how to shine."

Gimmaka also had his own moments as he came away from the night with five receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
