Impact of Obamacare focus of Nov. 16 event in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM - The impact of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is the focus of a Saturday, Nov. 16, event organized by the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. at Bellingham Public Library, 210 Central Ave. Coffee and treats will be served. The program, organized in conjunction with the Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement, begins at 10 a.m.

What do Whatcom County families want from the Affordable Care Act? Will it deliver? Those are among the topics that will be discussed.

The event will feature guest speakers:

- Elya Moore, deputy director of WAHA.

- Desmond Skubi, executive director for Interfaith Community Health Center.

- Bertha Safford, family physician with Family Care Network.

- Bill Gorman, interim director of the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce.
