Palliative care effort focus of Nov. 7 event in Lynden

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDNovember 2, 2013

LYNDEN - People can take part in a new effort to help build a community for those grappling with illness and death at an event Thursday, Nov. 7, in Jansen Art Center.

Called the "Heal without Cure" community conversation, it runs 7 to 9 p.m. at 321 Front St. in Lynden and is part of the Palliative Care Initiative.

Participants will break into small groups to have honest conversations and to share about living with chronic conditions, illnesses and death, organizers said.

The discussion also will focus on the most compassionate and helpful ways to care for each other, inside and outside of professional health care, they said.

The initiative is a collaboration of Western Washington University, Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement, Community Organized Group for Health, PeaceHealth Palliative Care and PeaceHealth Hospice.
