Three divers qualify for state in B Championships


Three divers posted state-qualifying dives and five swimmers earned bids to swims in the district tournament during the B Championships Friday, Nov. 1, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.

Lynden won the event with 139 points.

Squalicum divers Madi Krussow and Samantha Jones and Bellingham diver Ariel McGavock qualified for state in their 11-dive performance. Krussow scored 313.3 points, McGavock had 299.95 and Jones had 296.3.

"It's a huge accomplishment," Bellingham city dive coach Danika Troup said during a phone interview. "They all PRed."

Sehome sprint swimmers Leah Day and Karina Gallant advanced to districts with their 50 freestyle times, and Lynden's Tara Brockett and Squalicum's Amanda Tapparo swam to districts in the 100 butterfly.
