WWU volleyball wins at Central Washington


Western Washington University had three players with double-figure kills and libero Samantha Hutchinson had a match-high 33 digs as the Vikings defeated Central Washington University, 25-23, 24-18, 14-25, 25-16, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match on Thursday, Oct. 31, in Ellensburg.

The Vikings, ranked No. 10 in the latest Division II Top 25 Poll, improved to 16-3 overall and remained second in the GNAC standings at 9-2 behind Alaska Anchorage, 10-2 following a sweep at Saint Martin's.

Central, which had a five-match winning streak snapped, fell to 11-9 overall and 7-5 in league action. WWU also ended a two-match losing streak at Ellensburg. Earlier this season, the Vikings swept Central at Bellingham.

WWU's Kayla Erickson had a match-high 13 kills and Kelsey Moore and Rachel Roeder each had 12.
