Bragg wins dunk contest at Viking Jam


Center Austin Bragg won the dunk contest and the Viking women took a thrilling victory in the 3-point contest at the 27th Annual Western Washington University Viking Jam held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.

Bragg scored a perfect 50 on his last dunk of the final round. He beat out Jeffrey Parker, who had an effort judged at 48. The other finalist was Robert Harris, Jr., a transfer from NCAA Division I Idaho.

Katie Colard hit a shot at the buzzer to give the women a 45-44 win over the men in the 3-point contest. Taylor Peacocke hit 11 treys during her 30-second segment and Aleisha Hathaway had 10.

The men were led by Evan Scholten with 11 threes and Joey Schreiber had nine.
