Red Raiders' season ends with loss to Golden Eagles

Ferndale volleyball dropped the first set, but managed to pick up the win 20-25, 25-18 25-15, 25-14 on its senior night on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The Golden Eagles (10-4, NWC 9-3) were led by Taryn Potter, who recorded 11 kills on the night. Brooke Benson was another senior who produced, with seven kills.

With it being senior night at Ferndale, all five of its seniors played substantial time and had some key points to top Bellingham (7-7, NWC 5-7).

"We are playing really well right now," Ferndale coach Patti Hoelzle said. "We are at the peak of our performance and excited to make a statement at district tournaments."

Hoelzle gave plenty of credit to Bellingham.

"They played great and were very intense," Hoelzle said. "We had to battle."

The loss spells the end of the season for Bellingham. Ferndale waits on the seeding for the 3A district tournament to determine its next match.
