Blaine girls' soccer out of postseason with loss to South Whidbey

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 30, 2013

Fifth-seeded South Whidbey girls' soccer ended Blaine's season with a 4-0 win on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Pipeline Fields. South Whidbey's Maia Sparkman recorded a hat trick with three consecutive goals.

"I was proud of the way the team kept fighting throughout the game," Blaine coach Kelly Tuski said in a phone interview. "We started off slow and they picked up the pace and got more offensive opportunities. Olivia Olason created some good offense for us, and Fallon Puckett was fighting for saves on every shot."

Puckett finished with six saves for the fourth-seeded Borderites. South Whidbey advances to face top-seeded Meridian at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Meridian High School.
