Busiest shopping days expected to be right before Christmas

Here's a (link) to an interesting story by Chain Store Age about the busiest shopping days this upcoming holiday shopping season.

According to the article, four of the 10 busiest holiday shopping days will be between Dec. 20 and Dec. 24. The busiest will be Nov. 29 (Black Friday). ShopperTrak, a shopper analytic company, estimates stores will also see slight more traffic on Small Business Saturday (Nov. 30).

It's going to be a different holiday season for shoppers this year. Not only are a bunch of stores (including Macy's, Kohl's, JC Penney and Walmart) planning for 8 p.m. openings on Thanksgiving Day, four hours before Black Friday, but the season will be shorter this year because Thanksgiving falls so late on the calendar this year.

Whatcom County retailers will have four weekends to capture holiday shoppers. It'll be interesting to see if shoppers get started early in the season, or wait until those final four days.
