Assistance League of Bellingham to host grand opening at new thrift store

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 29, 2013

BELLINGHAM - The Assistance League of Bellingham is hosting a grand opening later this week for its thrift and gift shop.

The store moved from downtown Bellingham to 2817 Meridian St., near the Meridian Haggen store, earlier this year.

The grand opening celebration is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2, according to a news release from the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce & Industry. There will be hot cider and cookies, drawings for gift certificates and more.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, the shop is a key source of revenue for a variety of Assistance League of Bellingham programs. This includes Operation School Bell, which recently provided clothing for 1,236 school-age children.

The store sells a variety of items, including men's and women's clothing, shoes and household items.
