Lynden volleyball sweeps Meridian

Lynden volleyball defeated Meridian 25-22, 25-12, 25-13 on Monday, Oct. 28, at Meridian High School. The Lions were led by Kat Webb's 12 kills.

"It was Meridian's senior night, so they were pumped up and came out strong," Lynden coach Julie Clift said in a phone interview. "We took awhile to get going (in the first set). In the last two sets we got a lot steadier and had less errors."

Kelsey Bouwman added seven kills for Lynden, and Kaitlyn Mark had 28 assists. The Lions improve to 5-8 overall and 5-6 in the Northwest Conference, while the Trojans fall to 1-12 overall, and 0-11 in NWC play.

Amber Murphy had eight kills and one ace for the Trojans and Allecia Galindo added four kills and 12 digs.

"Amber Murphy had a great game hitting-wise, and serving as well," Meridian coach Shannon Claeys said in a phone interview. "Amber and Allecia should be proud of the way they finished their careers at home."

Lynden plays next in its final game at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at home against Sedro-Woolley. Meridian takes on Lynden Christian in the first round of the Class 1A Northwest District Tournament at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Lynden Christian.
