Storm clinch NWC championships with 5-0 win

Squalicum girls' soccer team sealed its first Northwest Conference championship with a 5-0 win over Anacortes on Monday, Oct. 28, at Anacortes.

"It feels fantastic," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview. "We set these goals at the beginning of the year, and to see them come to fruition is great."

Kim Hazlett led the way by scoring the Storm's first two goals. She also set up Kim Dorr's goal in the 39th minute to give Squalicum a 3-0 lead heading into the half.

"(It was) a phenomenal night right from the start," Kish said. "Just a solid team effort the whole way."

Brooklyn Bell-Stevenson and Braeden Hilleary rounded out the Storm's scoring efforts. Squalicum will face the Cascade Conference No. 3 seed at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Northwest Soccer Fields.
