Whatcom residents must pay property tax by Oct. 31

The property tax for the second half of 2013 is due to the Whatcom County Treasurer's Office by Thursday, Oct. 31.

Those mailing their payment should make sure it is postmarked by Thursday, so put it in the mail before the due date, Treasurer Steve Oliver said.

Late payments result in an added interest charge and a late fee.

Property owners have other payment options. For details, go to whatcomcounty.us/treasurer and click on "Pay Taxes Online." Additional fees accompany these options.

To find out how much property tax is owed, go to the payment website noted above and click on "Check Taxes Online."

Taxpayers also can get information by calling the Treasurer's Office at 360-676-6774. The office is in Suite 104 of the county courthouse, 311 Grand Ave., Bellingham.
