Wind gusts cause small power outages across Whatcom County


About 300 Whatcom County residents had no power at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, after gusty winds started to blow Sunday night and continued into the morning, according to a Puget Sound Energy spokesman.

With no major outages – those that affect a few hundred people at a time – crews were running from place to place Monday morning to fix small outages scattered throughout the county, PSE spokesman Ray Lane said.

Winds gusted up to 32 mph at Bellingham International Airport Sunday night, with gusts of up to 37 mph around 9 a.m. Monday.

The total number of people affected by power outages Sunday night was not immediately available Monday morning.
