Backs candidate to support services

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 26, 2013

Ferndale City Council candidates all agree: good paying jobs, retail and residential growth, public safety, and recreational and infrastructure upgrades are priorities for Ferndale. One difference that I believe was apparent to those who attended the recent candidates forum was support for the programs that affect those in need in our community. Two candidates flatly stated that they would not set aside any city budget money for programs like the Ferndale Food Bank, Resource Center, The Other Bank and the Senior Center.

With many years of work experience managing state and federal community programs, Stacy Miller knows that grants to fund social services go to cities that show real evidence of financial support for these badly needed community services. Times of tight budgets for cities are also times of tight budgets for non-profit funding agencies. Here's the point: while working to create good paying jobs, let's also elect a leader who chooses to take care of our most vulnerable community members by helping to fund programs that serve them. Vote for Stacy Miller for Ferndale City Council and I believe you will elect a caring, skilled public servant.
