THE BELLINGHAM HERALDOctober 24, 2013

The Squalicum girls' soccer team defeated Lynden Christian 3-0 on Thursday, Oct. 24, in a Northwest Conference matchup at Civic Stadium.

Lauren Gibb scored the Storm's first goal in the 50th minute off an assist from Kim Hazlett. Gracie Slater came back to score the final two goals in the 68th and 79th minutes, respectively.

"Their defense did a really nice job of stopping us," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview.

Slater's two goals came on senior night, something Kish was thrilled to see.

"It was all the more special," he said.

With the win, Squalicum (12-1-2, NWC 10-0-1) holds sole possession of first place in the NWC.
